• Only in Mesa – High School football player prank may be felony.

For lack of a better title to this story I think this says it all. A Mesa football player was booked on 70 counts related to a team photo that shows him exposing himself, the number of charges could be reduced or dropped according to USATodayHSS where a prosecutor in Mesa, AZ says, Mesa police booked Osborn on one count of furnishing obscene material to minors, a felony, and 69 counts of indecent exposure. Ten faculty members and 59 students were present when Osborn exposed himself and are considered victims. Osborn exposed a portion of his privates above the waistband of his football pants, the report said. The exposure went unnoticed by authorities during the fall season and appeared in an estimated 3,400 editions of the yearbook before school officials learned of the photo’s graphic nature, according to the television news station.

A Change.org petition created by user Alex Labban was launched Monday and had garnered more than 1,670 signatures by 6 p.m. Tuesday. It argues that responsibility for the distribution of the photo should fall on the school, not Osborn.

“Red Mountain High School is using him as a scapegoat instead of taking any responsibility,” the page states. “Hunter needs to be held accountable for his actions but that doesn’t mean ruining his life!”

There are plentyof comments you may want to read here: http://usatodayhss.com/2016/mesa-prep-football-player-charged-with-felony-for-exposing-himself-in-team-photo with the original story from USAToday High School sports edition.

    A few comments to highlight:

No one is giving him a pass. Everyone feels like he should receive appropriate consequences and punishment. No one with any sense feels like criminal charges and registration as a sex offender are appropriate.

This was a joke; not a crime at all.

Whomever put the photo in a yearbook or program failed due diligence of screening and editing all content.

More so the human body is a beautiful thing. War is perverse. Fascism is perverse. Prudishness is unnatural and perverse.

What has happened in America? Obviously not a well thought out decision by this kid, but 70 counts? He should have been expelled for a few days and the pictures should have been vetted better before being published, but why ruin a kids lie to prove a point. We are going off the depend on this one. Welcome to Arizona.

The two guys in front of him must have been in on it as well , they opened a gap for the exposure to be seen. This was a team effort.

He’s in Arizona, “Prison Industrial Capital of the World!” (Well, we’re the only country who have prisons for profits since the 1700’s, England tried,… went broke doing so, Hello Australia) And we’re going to go broke too… with this type of BS. It has nothing to do with crime… always about the money. NY rikers Island $180,000 a year. Go figure. Arizona has the highest incarceration rates amongst inmates. that’s why there’s one felony! that one felony will garnish 10’s of thousands if this unlucky young man spends anytime in jail.

On the felony, harmful materials to minors…who was harmed? Who is harmed by looking at a picture of a part of a willy over the top of pants in a pic that you have to use a magnifying glass to know what you are looking at?
