Redemption or forever condemned?

Redemption:  Is redemption possible or are wrongdoers forever condemned?  Chicago’s renowned Steppenwolf Theater Company tackles that issue with “Downstate,” a new play by Pulitzer and Tony Award-winner Bruce Norris premiering in Chicago on Sept. 20 and running through Nov. 11, 2018; the play is already slated for a London production in spring 2019.  Downstate comes […]

No proof public safer when sex offenders tracked

North Carolina’s second-highest court says authorities can’t force a sex-offender to wear a monitoring device for decades because evidence fails to show that tracking protects the public. A divided three-judge panel of the state Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that because officials presented no evidence that satellite-based monitoring is effective, it violates the U.S. Constitution’s […]

The Healing Power of Storytelling

Journal keepers, memoirists, and autobiographers have long understood the healing power of personal writing. Today, science confirms it: Telling our stories is good for our health. Studies show that as little as 15 minutes of expressive writing a day can dramatically improve your physical and mental well-being. Writing about our thoughts and feelings strengthens the […]

Witch Hunt Mentality Equals A Win For Registrants

Because of a hysteria driven, over-zealous mother, the New York State Senate recently passed legislation that prohibits placing school bus stops in front of the homes of registrants. Some may call it a “win” for this witch-hunting mother and others like her. I prefer to look at it as a “win” for the registrant. Do […]

Sex offender registry: More harm than good?

In the 1990s, in response to a number of horrific and highly publicized crimes against children, states and the federal government created stringent penalties for sex offenders, notably registries where offenders’ names and addresses are available to the public. By: Tom Condon | May 21, 2018 But now critics across the country are demanding review and […]

Original article posted to: sosen.org/blog please visit and support their site. My name is Jan. I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. Please Read: COVID-19 & Registry

In this trying time we want to reiterate a few things for our registrants and families. We don't want there to be any confusion or penalties concerning registry requirements during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Make sure you know current requirements. You can go to your Sheriff's Office website to see if there is new information there. If so, we suggest you do a screen print and save it. Call your registry office to get clarification on any questions you might have. Document the date, time, who you spoke with and their instructions regarding any address change, vehicle, employment, travel dates if required, etc.

Keep in mind if you are required to update your drivers license annually through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) you should contact them for their status. Some are limiting the number of people allowed inside and you have to wait to receive a call from them and then come back inside. Document any instructions.

Be safe, be smart, stay healthy and know we will get through this.
