Arnold, MO, Thursday, September 17, 2020

What should forgiveness look like? This is a question over 912,000 men, women and children (6, 8 and 10 in some states) are asking. Approximately 2.7 to 3.0 million family members of those required to register have a clear ongoing and fearful understanding of punitiveness and annihilation.  The US District Court of Colorado ruling in […]

When People with Intellectual Disabilities Are Punished, Parents Pay the Price

Carol Nesteikis, 66, has never committed a crime. But for two years, from six in the evening to six in the morning the next day, she lived under de facto house arrest with her 32-year-old son, Adam. It wasn’t because she wanted to. The home itself was a kind of punishment, she says. Adam was […]

An elderly man is dead after a young woman makes false accusation of sexual assault against him

An unnamed 16-year-old teenager called her 17-year-old brother and told him that an elderly man sexually assaulted her on a bus. The teen said that the man — later identified as Michael Fife — assaulted her while the two were riding a city bus. Just minutes after hearing about the alleged incident — which took […]

ACLU suit seeks changes to Michigan sex offender registry

If I were to title this article, my title would have been: “Bad Acting Prosecutors and Evil Judges” William Hetherington says he’s still being punished after paying his debt for a crime he didn’t commit. Hetherington, 65, made national headlines after his 1986 conviction for a new Michigan crime, spousal rape. Innocence advocates raised questions about the conviction, […]

He lures alleged child predators and shames them on Facebook. Now one of his targets is dead.

Shane [name redacted to avoid vigilante worshiping] started the online vigilante operation POPSquad, one of many similar groups tapping into a hunger for vengeance. On a cool evening in October, Alain Malcolm, 20, walked into a vacant two-story colonial house in Bristol, Connecticut. Two members of a local internet vigilante group — who regularly try […]

untouchable

Great news about UNTOUCHABLE, the film is available for streaming starting JANUARY 15th

FACT: More people are now listed on sex-offender registries than are currently in jail in the US. It’s an amazing statistic that illuminates one of the darkest corners of our criminal justice system: our fear-based approach to dealing with sex offenders.    So why do we have these massive lists? Are they fair? Do they keep us safe?   Untouchable, the […]

Missouri Just Reformed Its Sex-Offender Registry. But 1,200 Offenders Are Missing

Until very recently, Missouri’s sex-offender registry functioned like a factory with a single product. Regardless of the crime they’d committed, the state treated everyone on it like a potential predator, placing thousands of people on a single lifetime registry with strict 90-day check-ins, residency restrictions and virtually no chance of removal. That system changed in […]

Please Read: COVID-19 & Registry

In this trying time we want to reiterate a few things for our registrants and families. We don't want there to be any confusion or penalties concerning registry requirements during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Make sure you know current requirements. You can go to your Sheriff's Office website to see if there is new information there. If so, we suggest you do a screen print and save it. Call your registry office to get clarification on any questions you might have. Document the date, time, who you spoke with and their instructions regarding any address change, vehicle, employment, travel dates if required, etc.

Keep in mind if you are required to update your drivers license annually through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) you should contact them for their status. Some are limiting the number of people allowed inside and you have to wait to receive a call from them and then come back inside. Document any instructions.

Be safe, be smart, stay healthy and know we will get through this.
