On Friday The Brian Banks Story will open at theaters across the nation.

Brian was pro-football bound and then it happened. A life-changing event. Brian became a registered citizen. What can you do about that? Unfortunately, nothing but think about this. We are advocates right? What does the movie industry pay attention to and then emulate?  So, if we just happen to enjoy a night at the movies […]

Indeed, virtually every criminal justice outcome can be traced to a prosecutor’s decision.

Conclusion Prosecutors are not powerless. Indeed, virtually every criminal justice outcome can be traced to a prosecutor’s decision. But this exercise—“six degrees of prosecution”—can be conducted with many other criminal justice actors. For every prosecutor who asks for a high bail or severe sentence, there is a legislature that authorized the result and a judge […]

He lures alleged child predators and shames them on Facebook. Now one of his targets is dead.

Shane [name redacted to avoid vigilante worshiping] started the online vigilante operation POPSquad, one of many similar groups tapping into a hunger for vengeance. On a cool evening in October, Alain Malcolm, 20, walked into a vacant two-story colonial house in Bristol, Connecticut. Two members of a local internet vigilante group — who regularly try […]

untouchable

Great news about UNTOUCHABLE, the film is available for streaming starting JANUARY 15th

FACT: More people are now listed on sex-offender registries than are currently in jail in the US. It’s an amazing statistic that illuminates one of the darkest corners of our criminal justice system: our fear-based approach to dealing with sex offenders.    So why do we have these massive lists? Are they fair? Do they keep us safe?   Untouchable, the […]

Please Read: COVID-19 & Registry

In this trying time we want to reiterate a few things for our registrants and families. We don't want there to be any confusion or penalties concerning registry requirements during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Make sure you know current requirements. You can go to your Sheriff's Office website to see if there is new information there. If so, we suggest you do a screen print and save it. Call your registry office to get clarification on any questions you might have. Document the date, time, who you spoke with and their instructions regarding any address change, vehicle, employment, travel dates if required, etc.

Keep in mind if you are required to update your drivers license annually through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) you should contact them for their status. Some are limiting the number of people allowed inside and you have to wait to receive a call from them and then come back inside. Document any instructions.

Be safe, be smart, stay healthy and know we will get through this.
